About UsOur PurposeStudents with disabilities are a heterogeneous group of individuals who have a wide range of abilities and needs. One area of need that seems fairly consistent, however, is the need for assistance in making a successful transition from secondary education to postsecondary education, work, and adulthood. It is the intent of this website to provide resources to the secondary student with disabilities, their teachers, and their family to help improve the outcomes of their transition from high school. Currently research indicates that students with identified disabilities experience a higher rate of unemployment and lower rates of satisfaction in life as adults than their peers without disabilities. These resources have been tailored specifically for students with disabilities who are enrolled in Career and Technical Education classes (CTE) and for their CTE teachers. These resources are also applicable to any student. Parents are encouraged to investigate these resources so they can positively support their secondary student's evolution into an independent young adult. This Website was developed to disseminate and gather valuable resources for students, families, and educators. The database used to link users to current resources within the Website continues to expand and evolve. Agencies and individuals interested in sharing resources or becoming a collaborative partner for this Website are invited to contact the University of Delaware's Center for Disabilities Studies.
